Hi List,

we've to plan a backup, which cause some "headache"...

To backup 2 TB of data. The data/tapes should be available for 15 years.

Full backup every sunday, inc daily.

In my opion it' s no good idea to set the retention time to 15 years.
That will blow up the database and will "kill" the perfomance.
I thought I will set the retention time to 30 days (or max 90 days).

If needed, I will import the tapes again.

But the experience of restores shows some strange memories of our
clients... For example I had to restore a very important file, which was
used nearly every day... but this files was delete more than 30 days
before the loss was detected.

I can't belief that there will be clear instructions and details in case
of a restore.

Something like once upon a time ...

Do you have any experience or ideas to handle such a backup with
"minimal" effort and "maximum" satisfaction on both sides (operator and
client)?

Thank you in advance

Alex
