Landon's web site on encryption indicates that the on-disk (should that be on-medium, to include tape and other?) format may change during the beta testing. Can anyone give insight on how stable the encryption format is? Thanks...
Howdy Michael,Barring anything wildly unexpected, I would say that the on-medium format is stable. There is one thing I'd like to change, but it can be done in a backwards compatible fashion: Currently, the signing code only signs the file's encrypted contents. I'd like to also sign the other non-encrypted metadata -- the file's path, extended attributes, ownership, permissions, etc.
