Since nobody else has answered ...

First, sometimes it takes a while. How long did you wait for the job
to cancel?

Second, sometimes I've had to use "delete" to remove a job after it
was cancelled. I wouldn't have thought this would be necessary, but
sometimes it's the only way I can figure out to clear the job out.

If all else fails, I shut down the director and run dbcheck in fix mode.
It seems to find "orphaned job records" and once it cleans those up I
restart the director and all is well.
