Hello All, I am wondering if anyone can help with examples or pointers to complete the following setup. I have a semi-working setup already but I think its maybe the 'wrong' way of going about it. We have two (maybe more in the future) separate tape drives not in an auto-loader or anything like that that we would like to use for the backups. They are both identical LTO-3 tape drives. What I would like is a setup where a Job is run and it backs up to a free tape drive, if the 1st drive is in use, use the next (or wait on the one with the shortest queue of jobs to be run). Currently with my setup a Job is run and it chooses the tape drive as I want above (I have set them up as kind of a 'fake' autoloader setup with a strange hand cooked mtx changer script in place). The problem comes about when the drive the job is using fills up, at this stage I would like the job to move onto the next drive and continue running on this drive. Unfortunately the Job just sits there waiting for a tape in the current drive (that may not happen until morning and the other drive may be sitting idle).
Any one have any ideas on if this setup is possible and how to execute it? If you require any further information I will post it, just let me know what you want to see. -- James Ray. <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Computing Services Queen Mary, University of London ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Take Surveys.
