I don't exactly know how the udev system works, but I see it can recognize also the generic scsi-devices somehow. I jumped to FC5 a while ago, and it sets for the changer device everything correctly by default. While using FC4, I simply tried to remember to change all this stuff manually every time after the reboot. This was acceptable, since after purchasing my first autoloader I already knew I'd update the OS in a few weeks, and I decided to escape the problem for a while. And a happy surprise: the problem was already fixed for me in FC5. So, the proper udev rules come with FC5, but FC4 required some manual tuning. Heaven knows what will come with FC6...
