Hello, We have released the first beta 1.39 beta code to Source Forge as a tar.gz file as well as the Win32 binary installer.
This is beta code, so think carefully before putting it into production (I am running it here in production). It has a *lot* of new features, most of which are completely undocumented (sorry, but we will be catching up on that over the next 2 or 3 weeks). You may notice that some of the 1.39 features are already in 1.38. This is I explictly down ported them and one of the reasons that there have been 12 1.38 released. However, you will still find that 1.39 is packed with many new important features. The purpose of this beta release is to encourage those of you who can to test the existing base code (1.38 features) and as time permits to try some of the new features. This is probably the release with the most contributed code to date, and I want to thank everyone who has contributed to it, either with ideas, comments, or actual code submissions. One important feature of 1.39 is Migration, and you will find that it is not even mentioned (or just in passing) in the ReleaseNotes. This is because I simply have not had time. I hope to correct that before Tuesday when I leave for a few days of vacation. There is still a lot of work to be done on 1.39 before we can make an official release (1.40.0). If you have any comments on 1.39, especially concerning important information left out of the ReleaseNotes, please send them to the bacula-devel list. By the way, the 1.39.18 File daemon appears to be compatible with previous Directors and SD version 1.38.x. If you would like to use TLS communications encryption for Win32, you might want to try the version 1.39.18. However, *please* read the ReleaseNotes for the main release as there are some very important installation instructions.
