This is more a guess than a piece of solid fact, but I think the two drives
propably are completely independent of each other -have different scsi
addresses etc. So if you don't configure both of them for use in Bacula, you
should be able to do whatever you want with the other one. Very much the
same situation the drives were not built into same box at all?

Afaik, Bacula does lock the changer robot only when it needs to change
tapes, scan the library etc. At other times (eg. while Bacula reads/writes
tapes) some other sw should be able to control the robot too. I don't know
the hw in question, but I guess it has a common library & robot for both the
two drives? But that shouldn't be a problem -provided "the other software"
doesn't  steal a full-time control of the robot to itself.
