I did nab the newer packages from Debian's unstable branch, so I'll give those a go later tonight. I do have some occasional backups done with Mondo, so the vast majority of data is fairly accessible if I need it badly enough. Mondo works beautifully for something like a bare-metal, "damn, the drive died" scenario, but is not so friendly for selective restores. Bacula looks like it will work fine for my home needs, and I could see getting a tape drive some time. DVDs are pretty cheap though, so they're still good for home. For work, I usually have networked boxes and no local tape drive, so I think I can just use the file method with copies back to tape-backed filesystems on other machines. That does work well, right?
