I believe they will also be dropped if the Message-ID format is invalid - there must be a <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Many broken mail clients either use ID, ID@ or [EMAIL PROTECTED] (and often without the <> wrapper) - primarily MS-based ones as you'd expect - Outlook is one of the worst offenders. Technically the ID must be unique within 100 years - I have seen some MS-based clients churn out the same MAPI ID on every message, resulting in mail being discarded by duplicate message filters on servers. Anyone whose client is producing broken format message-IDs should fix it pronto - apart from the issues of messages being dumped here, they are usually tagged as spam by Spamassassin and similar filters.
