Take a look at this article from which I got the idea, especially the links it
provides. If I remember right, they considered scons but abandoned the idea
because of lack of enthusiasm from the authors (if I am not getting mixed up
with some other package). Anyway, if KDE is using cmake, that makes me more
confident about it, and all the other reviews I read were very positive. In
any case, I have long wanted to dump autoconf for all the reasons stated in
the link below:
