Couldn't this be done with an infrastructure that is similar to sql queries? I can imagine a generic "changer" command that looks into a file just like query.sql and lists available commands like "move tape", "unload drive(s)", asking for parameters and then feeds the command to e. g. mtx-changer. What do you think? One issue comes just right into my mind: You would still have to "update slots" afterwards...
