Hi all,

I have to backup a mysql database and was wondering what the best method would be. Schedule a mysqldump some minutes before the bacula backup starts? Or with Bacula you don’t need to dump the mysql databases?

Thanks in advance, I’ll summarize.

Cheers,

Hi Genis,

I have a small script which runs on the host and is in the run-before configuration item for that host.

eg :
Job {
Name = "Porkchop"
Type = Backup
Client = porkchop-fd
FileSet = "Full porkchop"
Schedule = "Daily"
Storage = DLT-HP
Messages = Standard
Level = Incremental
Pool = DLT-Incr
ClientRunBeforeJob="/usr/local/sbin/backup_db.sh"
Write Bootstrap = "/usr/local/backup/porkchop.bsr"
Priority = 10
SpoolData = yes
}

The backup script is a shell script which does a mysqldump of each database into a directory that is then backed up after completion. I exclude the mysql data directory.

Regards
