The Bacula package in Debian is currently undergoing a major remake. Due to the number of changes being done to the package the current versions may still be broken in some details. If you see more of these please use "reportbug bacula..." to inform us (the maintainers) about the problem. You didn't tell which database you use. But I can at least reproduce your problem with sqlite. A new package will probably be uploaded this weekend that fixes it.
