Before I go any further in building this environment, I wanted to see if anyone has any experience with the following configuration or similar.

Sun e480 running Solaris 10 OS

Sun storedge L180 fiber attached autochanger with 6 LTO2 fibre attached drives.

The 6 drives are connected though brocade 3850 switches

The robot is directly connected to fibre hba

We have two NEO 4000 autochangers with four LTO-2/3 drives, connected via a brocade 200e to a fire v240. All I did on the OS side was "touch /reconfigure; reboot" to make Solaris 10 recognize the devices. The changer showed up at /dev/scsi/changer/<long number>, the drives as /dev/rmt/0cbn or alike.

We use standard mtx to change tapes, with a slightly adjusted mtx- changer driver. Simply download the mtx tarball, build it and your done. After that you should be able to do "mtx -f /dev/scsi/ changer/..... status"

I’m not entirely sure how to configure Solaris to control the autochanger and tape drives. I’m assuming I can use MTX, but I can’t seem to find any documentation on how to set this up in Solaris. The sun documentation mostly refers to legato and veritas procedures and they are not helping at all. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Brian
