Does one really need to document what will happen if you blow of the instructions and do things the wrong way? ;) I'm pretty sure that the expectation is if you do things the wrong way, they aren't going to work (in some way or another). In addition, if the build fails differently in future releases when omitting the make step, the doc will need to be fixed. It won't if that part is left alone.
