I have a Dell 124T with a CERTANCE Drive installed. I am running Fedora Core 3. I am following the manual to test bacula with my setup. The main reason I am using Bacula is for the ability to write to a tape and append to the tape, when it is full load the next tape and keep going. So bacula is sitting on one server without any clients accessing it. Following the section : Testing Your Tape Drive with Bacula each step has went fine. I ran the autochanger test and there weren't any errors. When I tried the fill test from btape it will fill the first tape and give me this message:
btape: btape.c:2301 Last block at: 308:8894 this_dev_block_num=8895 btape: btape.c:2335 End of tape 308:0. VolumeCapacity=212,140,903,480. Write rate = 25403.1 KB/s 06-Apr 14:18 btape: End of medium on Volume "TestVolume1" Bytes=212,140,903,480 Blocks=3,288,395 at 06-Apr-2006 14:18. Mount blank Volume on device "Drive-1" (/dev/nst1) and press return when ready: Per the Manual I just have to hit enter and the autochanger will unload the first tape and load the second. So I hit enter and get this message: 06-Apr 14:40 btape: 3301 Issuing autochanger "loaded drive 0" command. 06-Apr 14:40 btape: 3302 Autochanger "loaded drive 0", result is Slot 1. Wrote Volume label for volume "TestVolume2". Mount second Volume on device "Drive-1" (/dev/nst1) and press return when ready: So I hit enter and got this: 06-Apr 14:41 btape: 3301 Issuing autochanger "loaded drive 0" command. 06-Apr 14:41 btape: 3302 Autochanger "loaded drive 0", result is Slot 1. 06-Apr 14:41 btape: Wrote label to prelabeled Volume "TestVolume2" on device "Drive-1" (/dev/nst1) 06-Apr 14:41 btape: New volume "TestVolume2" mounted on device "Drive-1" (/dev/nst1) at 06-Apr-2006 14:41. Done writing ... Wrote End of Session label. Wrote state file last_block_num1=8894 last_block_num2=11 14:41:18 Done filling tapes at 0:13. Now beginning re-read of first tape ... Mount first tape. Press enter when ready: I hit enter and then got this: 06-Apr 14:41 btape: 3301 Issuing autochanger "loaded drive 0" command. 06-Apr 14:41 btape: 3302 Autochanger "loaded drive 0", result is Slot 1. 06-Apr 14:41 btape: btape Warning: acquire.c:226 Wrong Volume mounted on device "Drive-1" (/dev/nst1): Wanted TestVolume1 have TestVolume2 Mount Volume "TestVolume1" on device "Drive-1" (/dev/nst1) and press return when ready: It looks like it never changed the tape. If the idea of the fill test is to see if it will go from tape to tape without intervention, then I must have something misconfigured. Anyone on the list using the Dell-124T and can shed some light?
