Does bacula (1.36.3) backup the Windows (2k etc) ACL's?
You mean the Security/Permissions/Ownership stuff? Yes, provided you use the Win32 backup client and 'native mode' in the file set (which is the default). The disadvantage is that you cannot restore files backed up like this to non-Windows systems (ie trying to restore it to a Linux box will fail). There is also a 'portable mode' that allows these restored, but doesn't back up the Security/Ownership information. The manual has this to say on the topic: "In Bacula version 1.31 and later, we use Windows backup API calls by default. [...] First, the advantages are that on WinNT/2K/XP systems, the security and ownership information is now backed up."
This via Samba.
No. You must use the Win32 client (at least until somebody contributed a different way to get that information).
Does 1.38.[3x]?
It should. In either case, I'd suggest to read the respective section of the, and I really have to add this adjective every time, excellent manual: http://www.bacula.org/rel-manual/Windows_Version_Bacula.html Greetings, Michel -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.2 (MingW32) - GPGrelay v0.959 iD8DBQFENOmT2Vs+MkscAyURAjq4AJ9cYjIG0NFhFJqnlJJ7gZI7Ek58GgCgrb8Q G5Zo8s2ia2kI+t+96WyvzlY= =XVQI -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email is sponsored by xPML, a groundbreaking scripting language that extends applications into web and mobile media.
