Correct. This is only a warning. You must be root for this function to work on 
most OSes.  This would only be a problem if your tape drive is not properly 
configured prior to running the SD, which unfortunately happens frequently if 
you don't have the right default after a boot or if you let another 
"sophisticated" program use the drive.
