OK. The system is scheduled for an upgrade in the very near future
 anyway. There are several things that are using the postgresql setup that 
would like a nice, new 8.1 :) 

(except the accounting package:(


I manually created the function and it seems to be working OK
 now. I still see errors galore in the log but I at least get a status
 and reports page to view that make some sense.
