Greetings! Well, I found my (stupid) problem! :-)
The director daemon was able to comunicate with the storage daemon. (Status storage, for example, worked.) But, it wasn't able to communicate with the file daemon. (Status client failed, with the suggestions for things that may be the problem if it isn't able to connect.) It WASN'T passwords. It was.... I had "barrycon-fd" instead of "barrycon-dir" where it needed the name of the director! <sigh> :-) Tuesday morning's backup failed. (And, I posted a message to this list before I left for work Tuesday morning.) And, as I expected, it was this weekend before I had a chance to try to figure out where the problem was. This (Saturday's) morning's backup failed. I found it. I made the change (about two seconds), and restarted the daemons. I then (manually) kicked off a backup. At the moment, things are running along, just fine: <<>> run A job name must be specified.
