suggested Bacula needed a patch to handle this, so let me ask here.

Will Bacula back up and restore the xattrs (extended attributes) used by
SELinux? My environment is RHEL4, but SELinux xattrs are common across
all implementations AFAIK.

as far as I know, Bacula can (by now) backup and restore xattrs on certain file systems. ACL at least should be implemented... SELinux is another problem, though - you've got to set the FD up so that it can access really everything. Seeing how people struggle with configuring SELinux correctly, having a manual entry describing the necessary modifications (and perhaps even a suggestion how to implement the necessary setup in a rpm package?) would be something very useful.

What I'd suggest, thus, is the following:
- You try if Bacula correctly handles the xattrs :-)
- You prepare a manual section on how to set up Bacula on a SELinux system.

Sounds like a good deal for almost all of us ;-)
