my tape was running fine with bacula for several months now ...

bacula says
3901 open device failed: ERR=dev.c:289 stored: unable to open device
/dev/nst0: ERR=Input/output error
Probably a SCSI system breakdown.
kerne.log says
Dec 19 10:38:52 erde kernel: st0: Error 10000 (sugg. bt 0x0, driver bt
0x0, host bt 0x1).
Hmmm. SuSE linux, HP drive?
And perhaps even a SCSI HBA with aic7xxx driver, too?
In that case - shutdown the computer and the tape drive, wait, restart
and see what happens. I guess everything will be fine for the next few
months :-)
i would says now wither my tape died on me (that won't be nice) or it
just hung up ... had that with a CD-ROM once .. got no reaction out of
it even with rebooting untill i turned power of for about a minute ...
Yup...
i treid playing around with sg3-utils e.g. sg_reset but no luck so far ..
any tips ?
If the above doesn't work, make sure that all devices, especially
external ones, are correctly connected to the SCSI HBA. Check your
connectors and the terminators. Check again. Remove external devices.
Replace cables. And so on... I guess you get the point.
I find these things to indicate, most often, hardware related problems.
And I'm quite sure that there are aic7xxx chips out there that are less
stable than most of that family.
