Quoting Craig White <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>:

# rpm -ivh bacula-*
error: Failed dependencies:
       bacula-client conflicts with bacula-mysql-1.38.1-0.test.i386

shouldn't I be able to install both bacula-mysql and bacula-client ?

Nope. bacula-mysql (or -postgresql, or -sqlite) already cointains file daemon. On server, you install only bacula-mysql. On clients, you only install
bacula-client.

If your previous version was 1.36, you'd also need bacula-updatedb on server (or
postinstall script from bacula-mysql is going to fail). However, I guess you
can ignore this error and run update script by hand after installation (the
script expects it can connect to database without using the password, which is
not always correct assumption). IMO, it would be best if database stuff was
completely ommited from pre/post scrtips and left for the system administrator
to perform the task manually after installation (with nice warning message
printed after installation reminding him to do so).
