If I remember right Tru54 is a variant of SysV, so most likely your problem is that your tape drive is running in SysV mode rather than BSD mode, and Bacula does not support SysV mode. Please see the Tape Testing chapter of the manual, and look for "Ensuring that the Tape Modes Are Properly Set". You will have to figure out how to set the modes yourself, and if you do get it working, please send us an example so that we can document it in the manual.
