Hello,

I'm copying the lists on this because I think it will interest them.

I suspect that the RPMs will follow shortly after the release. I leave this
part up to Scott who does the RPM packaging.

All of Bacula including the binaries is free. However, since about a month,
the Bacula project has been able to accept donations (or if you want
financial contributions). This is described on the Donations page on the
main web site (http://www.bacula.org). You can get to that page by clicking
on the Donations menu item on the left of the screen.

Certain corporations are unable to make donations, but can purchase licenses,
so I have suggested that if you fall into that situation, please purchase a
binary license. It is not obligatory, but you are making use of a service
that we are providing. If you are a corporation, and you are making money,
or a government, there is no reason for you not to contribute in one way or
another (code, answering user's questions on the lists, or financially).

So far, Ludovic Strappazon is the only individual to make a contribution
directly to Bacula. This is all the more significant because Ludovic just
finished his studies (so he is not a commercial company). Thanks Ludovic.

So there is no confusion, Landon Fuller is working on a data encryption
project, where he requested Bacula users who wanted to support this project
to contribute to the EFF. He has largely reached his goal of $3000, and is
in the process of implementing the code. I would really like to thank
everyone who contributed to this project. The details of the project and the
list of contributors is on the News page of the Bacula web site.

On the page mentioned above, I have "suggested" what seems appropriate as a
license fee. All official releases of Bacula can be downloaded from Source
Forge.

I would like to encourage those who have the means to donate to do so. The
project is in need of several important things. For example Scott normally
packages the Win32 binaries, but is unable to do so because he does not have
the appropriate Micro$oft VC++ license and the project does not yet have
sufficient resources to purchase one for him. This means that the Win32
binary release falls on my shoulders this time (not big deal). There are also
two other developers who asked for Micro$oft VC++ licenses.

Thanks. It is always nice to be encouraged.
