Hi,

Sorry if this question has been asked before, I searched and
didn't see it. Does Bacula run on Redhat ES 4? I searched the list and
saw this thread
http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.comp.sysutils.backup.bacula.general/12509
and this one
http://article.gmane.org/gmane.comp.bacula.user/12514/match=redhat+4
which doesn't exactly make me think it does. Would it be better to run
it on Redhat ES 3?

Hi Jet,

It runs here smoothly on CentOS 4.1. I compiled from source, since I didn't find rpm packages for RHEL4. Compiling from source goes very smoothly and I alredy had gotten used to it on my OS of choice, Mandrake/Mandriva, from the time when there were no rpms for that one either. There is another message of mine in the archives where I described all the dependencies. It basically comes down to installing a development environment for a C++-compiler and mysql-devel and of course reading the part of the manual pertaining to installation from source.

Hope this helps,

Jo
