That's not good.
Especially as it's the director you need to restart - the DIR doesn't
touch the changer itself.
Ok. That was a bit incorrect: I'm on gentoo doing a "/etc/init.d/bacula restart" so I'm actually restarting the director, the storage daemon and the local file daemon.
You can run the daemons with debug outputcapturing by, for example,
adding output redirection to the startup script, and later submit a
command like "setdebug level=400 dir" or "...400 storage=<a storage name
at the SD you want to monitor>"
At debug level 400, IIRC, you see a detailed report of the tape changing
process in the SD log. At about the same time, you should find something
in the DIR's log that has to do with selecting the next volume, and then
mounting it.
I'll try that and see if I find out more.
