Hi all,

I just wanted to tell about some features I would like to see
implemented in/with Bacula.

These features came to my mind after experimenting with a new business
idea: Many people and small enterprises don't have real backups right
now. My idea is to give them older PCs (currently small Compaq P3s at
700-800 MHz) with new harddisks (from 40-400 GB) and install CentOS +
Bacula on the computers. The customers will pay for the initial setup
(including hardware) and services (service contract, recovery,
maintainance).

Currently I'm testing this with a few (four) beta testers. In order to
make this product more usable for end users (therefore the subject of
my mail) I am missing two features:
1. Python scripts should be able to ask Bacula if the last backup
was finished successfully and when the next backup is scheduled.
2. Webinterface for system control (Bacula Web does that partially)
and restore (an extension for web-based restore would be that
ordinary users may restore their files without any admin
   intervention).
