These both look perfectly normal, so at least we can rule out any 
configuration problems, and considering the other problems you pointed out, 
it is unlikely that it is a tape error.  Much more likely at this point is a 
bootstrap file problem -- possibly due to the huge file size causing some 
buffer or table overflow.
