Thanks. I overlooked that "small" detail. Unfortunately it seems that most IDE driver implementors understand how a tape drive works. In the case of the OSST driver for the OnStream tape drive, it was not easy to get it working, but at least I had a direct email to the driver implementor and he was *very* helpful and cooperative in correcting the problems.
