Hi, A newbie here ... Just thinking of a worst case scenario ....
What if you need to restore from a tape / volume on another machine that is not running bacula ( and therefore does not have the catalog ) ? ... For example, you've taken a volume from a remote production site and want to restore some files to your local development / test site. 1) Is there enough information on the volume to determine which volume / tape is needed to restore from ? 2) Assuming I know which volume / tape to restore from, can u easily restore from the volume / tape using the native utlities on the OS ( e.g tar, cpio, dump, etc .. ) ? Does bacula add a TOC somewhere on the volume with descriptions on how to restore using native utilities just in case ?
