Hi Again

That wasn't much response, so I will try again. Can I use bacula clients version 1.36.1 with bacula server version 1.32d ?

According to the manual, for supported functionality the client and server need to share a revision, for instance:

1.34.x agent <-> 1.34.x server.
1.36.x agent <-> 1.36.x server.

In practice, I've run 1.36.1 agents against a 1.34.5 server, but you have to test those combinations individually. By the look of what I see below, the combination you're talking about won't work.

If not dos it cause any problems upgrading my server, eg. database inconsistency. ?

I've upgraded bacula twice, with no complications either time. Again - there are instructions in the manual about upgrading verisons.

Thanks

Hi all

I have just been setting up a new bacula client and when I try to do a backup from our bacula server I get the following error :

Fatal error: File daemon "mirakulix-fd" rejected Job command: 2997 Illegal command for a Director with Monitor directive enabled

Here's some information on my systems :

bacula server version : 1.32d (02 Nov 2003)
bacula client version : 1.36.1 (26 November 2004)

Client filedaemon configuration :

#
# List Directors who are permitted to contact this File daemon
#
Director {
 Name = asterix-dir
 Password = "..."
 Monitor = no
}

#
# Restricted Director, used by tray-monitor to get the
# status of the file daemon
#
#Director {
#  Name = mirakulix-mon
#  Password = "..."
#  Monitor = yes
#}

#
# "Global" File daemon configuration specifications
#
FileDaemon { # this is me
 Name = mirakulix-fd
 FDport = 9102 # where we listen for the director
 WorkingDirectory = /var/bacula
 Pid Directory = /var/run
 Maximum Concurrent Jobs = 20
}

# Send all messages except skipped files back to Director
Messages {
 Name = Standard
 director = mirakulix-dir = all, !skipped
}

Server director configuration :

Director {                            # define myself
 Name = asterix-dir
 DIRport = 9101 # where we listen for UA connections
 QueryFile = "/etc/bacula/query.sql"
 WorkingDirectory = "/var/lib/bacula"
 PidDirectory = "/var/run"
 SubSysDirectory = "/etc/bacula"
 Maximum Concurrent Jobs = 2
 Password = "..."
 Messages = Standard
}

Client {
 Name = mirakulix-fd
 Address = ...
 FDPort = 9102
 Catalog = MyCatalog
 Password = "..."
}

Can anyone point out what I'm doing wrong,

Thanks

Best regards
