Hello,

How do I set bacula to overwrite all tapes. I just want to do full

Well, this is a topic that has been discussed before.

In my opinion there are three things to consider:
1. That is generally not a very clever backup scheme. According to Kern (and to myself, and, I'm sure, to many many others) it's basically not very clever to try to implement something like that.
2. Bacula is designed to keep your data. Still, you can set it up to use whatever tape it finds - Retention periods need to be very short, automatic purging has to be on, and so on. Unfortunately, the side effect is that in many cases you will not have the necessary catalog information to use baculas restore functions.
3. dump can, in many cases, do a full backup to tape much faster than bacula. Using something like rsync before allows storing remote filesystems locally.

To sum this up:
Most people here will not be able to really help you with such a setup, because they try to avoid just what you want, and other programs can deliver the requested functions quite easily. So, unfortunately, don't expect too much help... I at least can't tell you more than that.

Of course, I could try to talk you into using a better backup scheme :-)

Arno

Thanks.
