I have installed winbacula-1.34.6 on my NT server and done all the tests and it seems to be ok however when I tried to connect from the console linux to NT server it came up with an error saying the password for the director on the client is not the same with that of the director on linux. (checked both passwords -all ok). I think that this has to do with the versions. I am currently running bacula 1.31a on my linux machine and other clients too which are running perfectly fine. Could this different in versions be the main cause for this error. What would be the best option to solve this if the versions is indeed the culprit here - would appreciate your help

Hi Sakaio,

I would suggest you upgrade all of it to version 1.36. It's worth it. Daemons of the same point version work together well. The rest is not guaranteed and probably won't work as you noticed.

rpm and deb packages are readily available and even compiling from source is not very painful, so there is no reason to keep working with a version that is almost two years old now.

Of course, since you waited this long, you will probably also have to upgrade your database structure. You will have to review and apply all the changes for each intermediate version if I'm not mistaken.

Cheers,

Jo
