I am getting an identical issue with a firewall here at EWC. :(

Haven't figured out a cure yet either.
Today I tried increasing the stunnel timeout to 7200 seconds via
the -t option (it defaults to 300 seconds). I did this to every
stunnel on every machine and restarted them all, including the bacula
daemons. No luck, no change.

Kern, Dan, do you think this is a tcp timeout issue of some sort?

Possibly. Try setting the Bacula heart beat interval to 5 mins in both the SD and the FD. It solves many of these kinds of problems (unfortunately not all).

Hrm... already had a heartbeat added to the sd.
Didn't know I needed to add one to the fd. :)
Trying now....
