Hello,
At the risk of riducule, I was wondering if anyone had any experience
backing up a netapp with bacula. Commercial backup like legatos talk
to the netapp directly using some netapp protocol, but with the lack of
a method of doing this, it seems the only solution is to mount the
netapp over NFS and back it up with bacula. We mounted it directly to
our backup server, but it's taking 5 times longer than expected to back
up. Would it be better to mount it on a client machine to distribute
the workload? Anyone know the best way to do this?
To answer our own question, in case there's anybody interested,
we found that mounting the NetApp via NFS over TCP dramatically
increased performance from NFS over UDP, matching or even
slighlty exceeding the native bacula-fd client transfer speed.
