Without knowing Legato - I guess this approach is not the most efficient way.
It isn't. I'm using both and the Legato method of grouping jobs is "annoying" at best, due to inflexibility.
Apart from that: Job grouping (and other, related things like putting multiple filesets andclients into one job) might be very useful, so I could imagine that trying to persuade someone to imlement them might be worth the effort.
I started out with filesets grouped and have recently split them out into individual save sets. Bacula's spooling method makes this fairly elegant if all the backups are started at about the same time
Another problem is that i'm unable to manage how to set jobs up that they can save their data in more than just one (or two) storage devices. I thought that pools are intented to prevent such things like restricting a single job to a single device.
No, sorry. Using multiple storage devices for one job is not possible currently. It's one of the things Kern works on right now, kind of.
It will be easier for Kern to test multidrive concepts when the new 2-drive tape changer shows up.
We should ALL be thanking Overland(*) for this donation.
