Thank you, Kern. That is good to know.
I believe I installed the Linux version from the debian repository and I 
downloaded the Win64 code directly from bacula.org
 From the looks of things, I have 5.0.1 running on Ubuntu and 5.0.3 on Vista

To find out if this difference might be the cause of my problem, I 
removed 5.0.3 from Vista and installed 5.0.1, but it made no difference. :-(
