When I've used bscan, it has been to recatalog a volume which has
passed the File Retention period so that I can restore from it
without recourse to bextract. That seems like something that all
Bacula sites without infinite File Retention periods can
anticipate doing sooner or later, rather than a mistake. Or is
there a better method for restoring from old volumes that I don't
know about?

it arises from reading a bacula-devel posting, I followed up
