Yes, that would solve the problem. Thanks for pursuing this and finding a resolution ... Debian also has a "trick" that you or he might want to use instead -- I am not a Debian guru so bear with me if I don't get it just right. In /usr/lib, put the libqwt-qt4.so... as normal, then also make a link: /usr/lib/libqwt.so -> /etc/alternatives/libqwt.so then in /etc/alternatives, one puts a link: /etc/alternatives/libqwt.so -> /usr/lib/libqwt-qt4.so.5.0.0 Once that is done, things should work correctly. The advantage of doing that way, is that there is some mechanism to modify the links in /etc/alternatives that allows switching from say qt3 to qt4. Anyway, some Debian guru can fill you in on the details.
