Well, that's a good question, and I thing that yes, it's useful... In
other way with unity doesn't make sense Me Menu and Messaging Menu...

That useful data you mention could be show if app it's unfocused or
minimized, but I think that a "close to Messaging Menu" for
Evolution/Thunderbird could be a great feature (and necessary for them)
and give more sense to this apps's behavior IN Messaging Menu...
