Think of music in the system tray as a fall back. If there's a dedicated tray icon the controls and such appear there, and not in the system tray. Food for thought. -controls on hover over (500ms), click=whatever it was before. As for Rhythmbox sharing files it seems that they are just files after all and rather this shouldn't be handled by Rhythmbox.
