When I'm using KDE, probably can use Akregator. If gnome than liferea, etc. I think most DE has programs almost every function. While awesome isn't DE (it's good, I think) but the users wants extra programs and I'm curious that awesome-users which program use. By your logic should delete many articles from awesome-wiki ( http://awesome.naquadah.org/wiki/Main_Page#More ).
