Hi Michael,

thanks for your prompt reply.  Indeed I set the keyboard layout using a
script provided here:
http://wiki.neo-layout.org/wiki/Neo%20unter%20Linux%20einrichten/Installscript
And the error disappears when I use setxkbmap only.

I will now switch permanently.
