Hi Satoshi,

Below is an example of a very simple use case of what you want(
screenshot below ) :
On my chat workspace I use irssi and pidgin, so I want irssi to be on
master and pidgin( plus the chat windows ) on the side( /slave ). Here
is a snippet from my rc.lua :

    awful.tag.setproperty(tags[s][2], "mwfact", 0.65)
.
.
    { rule = { name = "irssi" },
      properties = { tag = tags[1][2] },
      ror = { exec = "urxvt -n irssi -title irssi -e proxychains
irssi", key = "s" }
    },
    { rule = { class = "Pidgin" },
      properties = { tag = tags[1][2] },
      callback = awful.client.setslave,
      ror = { exec = "pidgin", key = "p" }
    },

The first line sets the size of master area, this is somewhere in the
beginning where you initialize the tags. In the rules, what is
important is the "awful.client.setslave" callback, which always keeps
pidgin on the right/left depending on the layout.

P.S. : ror property is what i use to associate a "run or raise" keybinding.
