mixing vertical and horizontal alignement for widgets

Hi all,

   I once had a widget layout, that I liked a lot but seem unable to
reproduce.

   I'd like to get a widget layout as this:
   | left aligned | right aligned                                  |
   |--------------+---------------+---------------------+----------|
   |              |               | progress bar widget |          |
   | widgets1     | widgets2      | text widget         | widgets3 |

   This is the obvious code I tried:
    mywibox.widgets = {
    {
      widgets1a,
      widgets1b,
      ...,
      layout = awful.widget.layout.horizontal.leftright
    },
    widgets3a,
    widgets3b,
    ...,
    {
      progressbarwidget,
      textwidget,
      layout = awful.widget.layout.vertical.topdown
    },
    widgets2a,
    widgets2b,
    ...,
    layout = awful.widget.layout.horizontal.rightleft
    }

    But this however ignores the rightleft layout at the topdown layout
and gives me this:
   | left aligned                       | right aligned            |
   |--------------+---------------------+---------------+----------|
   |              | progress bar widget |               |          |
   | widgets1     | text widget         | widgets2      | widgets3 |

    Can someone tell me how to get my desired result?

    BTW: I am using awesome 3.4.5-1 which is momentarily the version in
debian squeeze.
