I can't help that one. That requirement comes from the binutils folks.
Yes of course. But just as a feature request, it would be great to
have additional patches for avr-libc, binutils and gcc doing these
makefile-changes. Bootstrap / automake would then be unnecessary for
users, who just want to build an up-to-date toolchain with the same
patches that are included in the winavr-release.
