Well, this would not be good for my concept reducing power supply current.

Micro Crystal Switzerland's Real Time Clock chips generate a 32,768 Hz
temperature compensated output, while consuming 500nA.  Maxim/Dallas Semi.
also make similar low power oscillators.  Downside to all of them is
they can be hard to get, and increase the BOM costs.
