I can see how setting the path at install time can be convenient for some
people, but it should never be more than an option - IMHO, of course.

Oh, I agree.
I was just refering to the difference in Win NT/XP installation procedure, against Win 98. The former adds paths automatically to the environment(no option here), while the latter does not.
