All ECM components will work without modification in Fortress. Even
better, Fortress allows components that were written for different
environments originally to interoperate without problems. This has
to do with the smarter handling of the ROLE name than ECM. It is
still not as elegant as Merlin's mappings, but it is a definite
step in the right direction.

The XCM project does provide the migration of the configuration and
roles files--which is a good thing.

As a user who is going to make this transistion from ECM soon, where can I find XCM ? Even if there aren't any tools to auto this, a simple guide would be nice...

I think Berin is referencing XFC which is curretlky in the Excalibur CVS - avalon-excalibur/xfc - but should probably more to avaon-sandbox.

Not a lot of documentation but if you hand around in the source code you can see the makings of a migration strategy from roles xml ad conf xml to a formal meta model instrustructure.

Cheers, Steve.

However, we need to make a release of that before we can think about
deprecating ECM.
